Here are brief descriptions of some of my prototype projects:
Simulchess – I was wondering what it would be like if you could have a chess or checkers style game where both players make their moves simultaneously. This is still buggy and in early stages. I started this back in June or July of 2013. After making seriously hacked-together menus for Super Pooper, it was nice to start fresh when making these menus. This also uses the SDL_Font library to render text, instead of having all of the menus pre-rendered.
Rock Paper Scissors Chess – I was inspired to make a game with Rock-Paper-Scissors mechanics after watching a video about game mechanics from Rym and Scott of Geek Nights. The game is played on a 5×5 chess board on your computer.
Statera – Every now and then, I get the urge to make some sort of an Epic RPG. The urge hit me one day while I was watching Conan the Barbarian, so I decided to whip up a PHP site that writes and reads to/from a sqlite3 database. The database itself is very easy to import directly into a game. I plan on releasing this under the GPL.
Freelance Musician – I thought it would be fun to do a simulation game where you try to earn a living as a musician by playing gigs and getting students. The game is in alpha right now, and it is playable for members of the Maine Game Developers Group that I administer on facebook.
